Effectiveness and Responses of Using Melayu Riau Culture-Based Teaching Materials in IPAS Learning at SDN 189 Pekanbaru

This study aims to measure the effectiveness of Melayu Riau culture-based teaching materials in IPAS learning in grade V elementary school, and to determine the responses of teachers and students in the use of IPAS teaching materials. This study uses a quantitative quasi-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. Data collection was carried out by conducting a pretest-posttest on student learning outcomes, and by filling out a questionnaire by teachers and students on the use of teaching materials. The results of the study showed the results of the pretest normality test showed α = 0.178 and posttest α = 0.086. These results indicate that the pretest and posttest normality tests ≥ α = 0.05 which can be concluded that the pretest and posttest assessment data are normally distributed.The average pretest score of students was 64,48 and the average posttest score of students was 80,57. Based on the results of the pretest and posttest average data test, the value obtained was 0.5277, which obtained an N-Gain value with a Medium category in improving the learning outcomes of 5th grade elementary school students. The teacher's response to the use of Melayu Riau culture-based teaching materials in IPAS learning obtained an average score of 82.97 in the Very Good category. Students' responses to the use of Melayu Riau culture-based teaching materials in IPAS learning. obtained an average score of 83.2 in the Very Good category. This result indicate that the use of Melayu Riau culture-based IPAS teaching materials can improve the IPAS learning outcomes of fifth grade elementary school students
