PROBLEMATIKA RENDAHNYA KEMAMPUAN LITERASI SISWA DI SEKOLAH DASAR
Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis problematika dan faktor penyebab rendahnya kemampuan literasi siswa, khususnya di sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis deskriptif berdasarkan data kualitatif melalui hasil angket, wawancara, dan observasi, dilaksanakan di enam sekolah dasar pelaksana Gerakan Literasi Sekolah (GLS) yang berada di Kabupaten Sukabumi Jawa Barat. Sedangkan subjek penelitiannya adalah siswa kelas IV SD dan orang tua dari enam sekolah tersebut yang digolongkan dalam tiga kategori, yakni siswa yang memiliki Kemampuan Literasi Awal (KLA) tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa faktor penyebab rendahnya kemampuan literasi siswa adalah: (1) keadaan sosial ekonomi keluarga; (2) komunikasi dan bimbingan terhadap anak pada usia dini; (3) komunikasi dan bimbingan belajar pada masa sekolah; (4) fasilitas/koleksi buku bacaan di rumah; (5) fasilitas HP, komputer, televisi; (6) gender; (7) hubungan antara keluarga, sekolah, dan masyarakat; dan (8) penggunaan strategi/model dalam pembelajaran membaca. Berdasarkan hasil temuan tersebut dapat direkomendasikan: (1) pemenuhan sarana prasarana penunjang literasi, (2) pembimbingan intensif terutama dalam kegiatan membaca di rumah, (3) peningkatan kegiatan GLS, dan (4) penggunaan model pembelajaran membaca dalam proses pembelajaran di sekolah dasar.
